Emily is a certified educator, science communicator, and musician. She has over ten seasons of experience directly engaging youth and adults in outdoor recreation and education programming. At the San Antonio River Authority, Emily assists in planning, developing, and executing exemplary water and environmental science education and volunteer programs. With a background in whitewater rafting and river recreation, Emily’s passion aligns with the River Authority’s vision of inspiring action for healthy creeks and rivers. As a performing artist for 15+ years, Emily believes in the power of music and art to connect people with their environment. In addition to education and volunteer initiatives, Emily writes for, edits, and manages the River Authority blog. Come for the science; stay for the puns. She holds a B.A. in Music from The University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Teaching from Longy School of Music of Bard College. In her free time, you can find Emily rock climbing, biking San Antonio’s many greenways, and searching for the perfect taco.
